Jet To Introduce Online System For Tracing Missing Baggage
Jet Airways will become the first Indian airline to offer
the facility of tracing missing baggage online to passengers. By means of this
facility passengers can now check the status of their missing or delayed baggage
through the worldwide computerised baggage tracing system which can be accessed
on its website jetairways.com under the 'Product & Services' section.
Passengers need to report their missing baggage or delay
in receipt of their baggage at Jet Airways' airport offices. They will then
be provided with a 10-character file reference. Passengers are required to specify
this 10-character file reference and their last name on the website to get information
about the baggage status.
Passengers must, however, keep a copy of the mishandled baggage
report that is given to them, the receipts for any emergency or replacement
items in order to claim insurance, and original flight ticket or e-ticket reference,
etc.
If the baggage remains untraceable for over seven working
days, then a questionnaire would be sent out to the passenger. The detailed
inventory on this form will allow the airline to widen its search. In the unlikely
event of baggage not being located within 15 days, the airline will begin to
process any claims while the search still continues.
