Hindusthani Hospitality

Joy Roy Choudhary checks out Hotel Hindusthan International, an ideal destination for business travellers.

Among the oldest five-star hotels of the city, Hotel Hindusthan International, Kolkata or HHI is located on the busy AJC Bose Road near Camac Street. The location makes it a convenient spot for business travellers with its close proximity not only to the commercial centre of the city but also popular shopping plazas and other important tourist spots.

The tastefully decorated eight-storeyed hotel has cut a niche for itself in the Kolkata hospitality industry through decades of personalised service to guests. HHI, with 186 well-furnished rooms, has an exclusive floor dedicated only to business travellers - The Colony. This 24-room floor is a perfect blend of thought and shape with neo-colonial design, wooden floor and dome lights. The basics include in-room fax, laptop connectivity, mini-bar and DVD to name a few. Other services include a charming and well-informed butler who also doubles up as secretary and a source of local information.

Under the Deluxe category, there are 78 twin and double-bedded rooms with facilities like electronic safe, tea and coffee maker and other goodies. The F&B outlets of the hotel are a real treat for the connoisseurs of quality cuisine and liquor. There are three popular outlets. Pamper your culinary senses at Palm Court - the 24-hour coffee shop or spend time at Kalash - the Indian speciality restaurant. Virgose, the city's first true restobar, serves the finest cuisine and choicest liquors. This is the perfect place for networking, socialising and exchanging business cards over a drink. And if you want to chill out just by yourself, The Polo Bar, the theme bar of the hotel is the right place to unwind. Underground, HHI's high voltage nightclub has already proved to be an instant hit among the young crowd.

Through its four decades of expertise in the hospitality industry the hotel promises to make the stay a memorable one for the guest.
