BA Planning Expansion Of Web Check-in Facility

British Airways (BA) is planning to expand its Web check-in facility in Mumbai, Delhi and other key metros in the near future. Currently this facility is available only in Bangalore.

According to Carniero, BA marketing manager, South Asia business travellers will find this facility very helpful. “If  they have no baggage to check in, they can proceed to the immigration counter straight away, saving them almost 20 minutes,” says Carniero. The airline is also likely to increase the number of seats on its premium economy product, World Traveller Plus. It was introduced by BA in 2000 for passengers who wanted a product akin to business class, but could not afford it. Up to 25 per cent dearer than economy class, there are on an average 35 seats in this cabin. While the airline remains tight-lipped about an upward revision in this number, sources indicate that an expansion of this class may only be a matter of time due to the healthy load factors and the general preference for premium economy. “World Traveller Plus has up to 22 per cent extra space and more seat pitch. In addition, it has in-seat telephony and laptop connectivity," Carniero says.
