Cathay Announces Service to Moscow and Manchester
Cathay
Pacific recently announced that it will, pending final government approvals,
launch three flights a week service to Moscow from Hong Kong. The service is
scheduled to start from March 27, 2006. The Moscow service will continue onwards
to Manchester, England making Cathay Pacific the only airline to offer direct
passenger service to Manchester from Hong Kong. The Moscow service will extend
an existing code share agreement with Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, while the Manchester
service will mark the resumption of Cathay Pacific passenger flights to the
city. The route will be operated with an Airbus A340-300. Flight CX 237 will
depart from Hong Kong at 00.15 (local time) and land in Moscow at 6.25 (local
time) and the same flight will take off for Manchester at 07.50 (local time)
to land in Manchester at 08.55 (local time). Flight CX 236 will take off from
Manchester at 10.00 (local time) and will land in Moscow at 16.55 (local time)
and take off at 18.40 (local time) and arrive in Hong Kong at 08.10 (local time)
on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Both the Moscow and Manchester services are expected to generate new hub traffic
to and from Australia, New Zealand and around the region.
