Jetstar Asia Commences Service between Singapore And Kolkata
Jetstar
Asia commenced its India operations last month with flights from Kolkata to
Singapore. The entry of Jetstar Asia marks a new chapter in Indian aviation,
as it is the first value-for-money airline from Singapore to establish links
with India. The airline flies three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday)
with A320 aircraft between Singapore and Kolkata. The flights to Kolkata depart
from Changi Airport at 16.30 hrs., and land in Kolkata at 18.00 hrs. The return
flight from Kolkata takes off at 19.00 hrs. and lands in Singapore at 01.35hrs.

While keeping prices low, Jetstar Asia is offering value-for-money services
on board which includes the digi-player service (an in-flight entertainment
player combining music, movies and sitcoms) on its flights to Kolkata, Hong
Kong, Manila and Taipei at a nominal cost of S$12 per passenger. A wide range
of hot food, snacks and beverages along with duty free items can also be purchased
on board. The airline is a Singapore-based partnership between Qantas (49 per
cent), local businessmen Tony Chew (22 per cent) and FF Wong (10 per cent) and
Temasek Holdings (19 per cent). It is the regional extension of the Jetstar
brand, which was launched by Qantas as a low cost airline in the Australian
domestic market. Speaking about the new venture, Ken Ryan, CEO of Jetstar Asia
said, We are delighted to be the first value-for-money airline from Singapore
to open this new route to Kolkata. Jetstar Asia is excited to be playing its
