Mid-Range Resorts

Some of the better known mid-range resorts are Kenilworth, Club Mahindra, Heritage Village Club, Nanu Resort, La Paz in Vasco, the Mandovi, Nova Goa, Park Plaza Delmon, Neptune Deluxe, Sun Village, Horizon, Whispering Palms, Ronil, Chalston, and so on. These resorts are also situated in proximity to the sea. The Mandovi and Nova Goa are located in the heart of Panjim city and are ideal for business travellers. Some resorts, like the Sun Village, are offering packages inclusive of air-travel at drop-dead prices. A room in these resorts during the off season will cost between Rs. 500 to Rs. 800 per night.

Budget Tourism

Any rough guide will tell you that Goa is full of budget or economy resorts. Panjim Inn and Mayfair Hotel in Panjim are popular with backpackers. Rates here are much cheaper than the mid-range hotels and yet the rooms are clean and well-tended. But the government-owned Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) owns a number of beach resorts offering very cheap packages and decent accommodation, mainly for the benefit of domestic tourists. The Margao, Vasco, Panaji and Mapusa Residencies are city resorts, ideal for families wanting to go on a shopping spree. For Rs. 2,333, a couple can enjoy an A/C room on a three nights-four days package, inclusive of breakfast, two sight-seeing tours and a river cruise.

For those who love the beach, the Colva, Miramar, and Calangute Residencies of the GTDC are idyllically located on the beach. These resorts offer an A/C room for Rs. 2,999 per couple for three nights-four days inclusive of breakfast, two sight-seeing tours and a river cruise. GTDC also owns nature resorts at Mayem Lake, Old Goa, and Farmagudi, offering an A/C room for three nights with breakfast for Rs. 1,555.

Casino Land

Goa is the only state where Casinos are legal. The Leela, the Holiday Inn, the Ramada, the Cidade de Goa, and the Goa Mariott have in-house casinos, where you can try your luck at gambling in a controlled atmosphere. But the talk of town is the Caravela, a floating casino on the River Mandovi, owned by the Ramada Group. If you are in Goa, you can’t miss an opportunity to go aboard the Caravela (that houses the floating casino) and experience the amazing feel of international standard live gaming. The Caravela is the only live gaming Casino in India! Chances, adjacent to Cidade de Goa is another impressive Casino complex, which offers all kinds of games from Roulette to slot machines.
