Neeti Chopra checks out Fortune Select Global in Gurgaon

Mid-market, minimalist-chic, luxurious, hot, hip and cool...these are some of the epithets used to describe Fortune Select Global. The four-star business hotel, which opened recently, is suitably located considering its proximity to the financial and central business district in Gurgaon, various convention and exhibition centres as well as shopping and entertainment complexes of the area.

With the opening of this 83-room property, Fortune Park Hotels has added a new dimension to its range with the introduction of the superior Select category. Located in the Global Business Park on the Gurgaon-Mehrauli Road, Fortune Select Global is a high-rise structure where the hotel actually starts from the fourth floor. Only the lobby is in the ground floor while the first three floors are offices and other commercial establishments.

The hotel has been designed in minimalist style following the pattern of other structures in the Global Business Park complex - a combination of pale sandstone and cool green-tinted glass.

Guests stepping into the hotel lobby immediately notice the visible difference in look and feel. Within the period setting, the furnishings, colour scheme and paintings are all very contemporary. The reception is a simple desk at the far end of the drawing room, which features comfortable seating.

As you climb up, you will find from the fifth till the seventh floor 20 standard rooms and one suite on each floor. The rooms feature soft, light wood furnishings and light wall colours for a more spacious feel. Elegant lamps, wall hanging, wooden floors furnish the room. There are then the usual facilities - television, mini-bar, coffee maker and a door leading into a spacious bathroom. On the eighth floor, the hotel offers 20 Fortune Club Rooms equipped with all modern amenities to cater to the demands of the business traveller.

In the food and beverage options, Orchid, on the other side of the lobby, is an elegant, long, wood panelled, multi-cuisine restaurant with its 24-hour menu to appease your taste bud. The ambience is contemporary, cosy, bistro style - modern square tables for two or four. The family bar serves a wide collection of cocktails and mocktails.

Positioned on the fourth floor is the conference hall with a capacity to accommodate up to 450 persons. The hall has modern facilities like video conferencing, Wi-Fi connectivity and provides a fully equipped business centre. One of the best features of the hall is that it can be separated into three sections. The 4,000 square feet conference hall adjoins a swimming pool and an open terrace for a small get-together.

All in all, for a business trip to Gurgaon, if you wish a little touch of luxury, then this Fortune Select Global is definitely a selectable option.
