Air-India Express To Launch This Summer
Air India recently announced the launch of its low budget carrier, Air-India
Express to commence operations by summer 2005. Reveals V Thulasidas, CMD, Air-India,
" The airline will fly out of Trivandrum, Kochi, Calicut, Chennai, Mumbai,
Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati to all points that Air-India operates to in the
Gulf except Saudi Arabia and South-East Asia i.e. Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore.
The South-East Asia destinations will be connected in a phased manner."
Though still in the development process, the airline is optimistic of its take
off. According to Thulasidas, there will definitely be different fare structures,
which are lower than the current available fares. He claimed that with the growing
traffic between India and the Gulf, the airline will serve the purpose, as it
will be an all-economy airline wherein the service will be scaled down but the
aircraft will all be new. The booking structure will include the web and travel
agents."
