Kingfisher Airlines To Be Launched In April

The UB Group's foray into Indian skies will witness the launch of Kingfisher Airlines in April 2005. Kingfisher is branding itself as a high value airline, offering its passengers a single class experience on all its modern Airbus A320 aircraft. The aircraft aptly called 'Funliners' will offer a host of firsts in the Indian skies. To begin with, it will be the first airline to have different designer interiors for each aircraft. The all-economy aircraft would boast video screens at every seat with a choice of up to five channels of video and 10 channels of audio programming. In addition, a moving map channel showing present position, airspeed, altitude and flight time remaining will be on display at every seat. Passengers can also enjoy good width and spacious legroom and enhanced overhead bin storage space. "As the soon-to-be-all-new A320 fleet operator in the world, we are very proud to secure 34 Airbus A320 aircraft for our start-up and growth plans," said Vijay Mallya, chairman of Kingfisher Airlines. Kingfisher will operate a fleet of eight new Airbus A320 aircraft in 2005 and plans to add another eight A320s to its fleet in 2006. Kingfisher will operate flights to destinations across India.
