Air-India, in a joint venture with Indian Bank and with the support of Singapore Tourism Board, have launched travel schemes to Singapore whereby travellers can obtain loans through Indian Bank branches across Tamil Nadu.

There are three 'Uniquely Affordable Singapore' schemes on offer and the loans can be repaid through equated monthly installments (EMIs). These schemes are available for travel till March 31, 2005 on all Air-India flights on the Chennai-Singapore-Chennai sector. Scheme A comprises airfare on any Air-India flight on the Chennai-Singapore-Chennai route with an EMI of Rs 699 for adults and Rs 466 for a child under 12 years. Scheme B comprises airfare on any Air-India flight on the Chennai-Singapore-Chennai route, a four-day/three-night hotel stay at Metropolitan YMCA with daily breakfast, a half-day city tour, lunch and Singapore River Bumboat Ride at an EMI of Rs 844 for adults and Rs 613 for a child under 12 years. Scheme C comprises airfare on any Air-India flight on the Chennai-Singapore-Chennai route, a four-day/three-night hotel stay at Golden Landmark with daily breakfast, a half-day city tour, lunch and Singapore River Bumboat Ride with an EMI of Rs 909 for adults and Rs 678 for a child under 12 years.

The schemes on offer to the residents of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are slated to be convenient and affordable because the loans can be repaid on monthly installments over a 24-month period without any security. To further simplify the process, the customer can book through any IATA travel agent who would coordinate with Indian Bank with regards to formalities.
