Cathay Launches Daily Beijing Service From Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific Airways introduced a daily flight to Beijing from Hong Kong on the first of this month. The move is a step by the airline to further strengthen Hong Kong as a gateway to the mainland. CX 318 will depart from Hong Kong at 17.50 hrs and arrive in Beijing at 21.00 hrs. Subsequently, CX 317 from Beijing will depart at 07.50 hrs. and will land at Hong Kong at 11.20 hrs. The airline also has been granted rights to operate a second daily service to Beijing from the start of 2005 summer season and has resumed services to Beijing with three weekly flights on December 2, 2003, after a gap of thirteen years. Four additional weekly flights now offer passengers more options to connect with the airline’s international services through Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific has also been allocated rights upon destination to operate three weekly passenger services to Xiamen and twelve weekly freighter services to Shanghai and will launch the same by early 2005.
