Future Shock

Dear Sir:
I quite liked your May issue cover story 'Aviation Next - Plane Truths Of The Future'. It is incredible what the next generation of aircraft promise. But I think that few of us laymen can predict the direction in which technology moves. Maybe you will tomorrow have a concept which does away with travel altogether, like depicted in the television series Star Trek where you got transported from one place to another instantly. Or maybe telecommunications will get so advanced that even touch and feel can be sent across distances. Aircraft of the future would be redundant in such scenarios, wouldn't it?

Long Way Off

Dear Sir:
The article on 'E-ticketing' in the May issue under the Spotlight slug was quite informative but I am sceptical whether the idea will catch on in India, given, firstly, the abysmal levels of technology-savviness that Indians exhibit and two, the suspicion of all things non-human. Consider the fact that railway tickets are now available online, but we still see mammoth queues outside ticket counters. It might be true that the whole world is switching over to e-ticketing but here, I find it taking root only after a long, long time.
