Boom Town’s Latest Hotspot

Jyoti Koul checks out the Trident Hilton, Gurgoan

For years, Gurgoan, as a part of the national capital region, was referred to as a 'disappointment'. Little could anyone peep into the future at the time and predict the metamorphosis which is evident today. A corporate hot-spot, Gurgoan is fast turning into a focus zone for business travellers. To cater to this clientele is the newly opened Trident from the Oberoi-Hilton stable which has in a month's time recorded cent per cent occupancy. The hotel is close to the main business parks and multinational corporate headquarters, keeping occupancies soaring.

A walk into the magnificent hotel and, simply put, I am lost, as the property unfolds one after the other its domes, reflection pools, fountains, long corridors, walkways and inner courtyards. The external or outer features of the property make it look like a retreat of an erstwhile maharaja. But once you check into a room, the same retreat magically turns into a modern hotel that could give any international high-end property a run for its money.

Built on an expanse of seven beautifully landscaped acres, the hotel has 136 elegantly furnished and well appointed rooms that include a presidential suite and six executive suites. Outfitted with all the latest and modern facilities like wireless broadband internet access, mini-bar, tea and coffee maker, direct dial dual line telephone with dataport, satellite television and electronic safe, each room, besides defining comfort, overlooks the garden, courtyards or reflection pools.

What is really distinct about the property is its resemblance to a resort. Serene, yet imposing, are the beautiful sheets of water (reflection pools) aptly complimenting and adorning the architecture of the hotel, which is a fine blend of archaic and modern.

The hotel offers a host of recreational or leisure facilities that include an outdoor heated swimming pool, spa with Thai therapists and state-of-the-art fitness centre.

To take care of 'business' needs, the hotel has a fully equipped 24-hour business centre with one meeting room and all conference facilities. The meeting room can accommodate up to 195 persons.

Dining options are limited to two restaurants, Cilantro, an all-day dining restaurant serving international cuisine, and an Indian specialty restaurant. These are however enough to tickle the taste buds. Besides a business bar with its cherry wood parquet flooring and unobtrusive yet sophisticated décor is enough to invent a mood for a relaxed drink, an informal meeting or simple indulgence!
