Redefining Four-Star

Ashish K Tiwari checks out the Mirador in Mumbai, a ‘four-star design hotel’

At first glance, the massive glass frontage of Mirador imparts an impression of yet another corporate office of a blue chip company. However, the moment you step inside you are pleasantly surprised. The lobby of this four-star hotel is a tasteful melange of ornate furniture, paintings, pleasing colours, smart lighting, glass lift etc. creating a designer five-star ambience.

Billed as a ‘designer hotel’, Mirador, located two kilometres from the international airport in the heart of North Mumbai’s commercial zone, Andheri (East) is an example of redefining four star hospitality. The 90 rooms in the property are divided in four categories – superior, executive, junior suite and suite rooms, each designed with a different theme. For instance, rooms on the first, second and third floor sport a Scandinavian decor down to the shade and pattern of the woodwork while the fourth floor has an Italian ambience with a different colour combination, fine wrought iron and glass furniture and wall paintings.

The ‘Club Premier’ on the fifth floor is the high-end zone, with additional amenities like Italian bathtubs, custom-made furniture, fax machine and flat screen digital televisions. Different shades of grey adorn the walls on this floor giving it a more sober look to match the guest profile, who are mainly higher management personnel of the corporate world. Executive room amenities include bathroom slippers, bathrobes, superior toiletries and a host of value add-ons. Features like work table, communication device, data ports for broadband Internet connectivity, tea/coffee makers, sewing kit, medical kit, herbal toiletries and Electrolux mini bars are incorporated in every room.

As a business hotel, the banquet and conferencing facilities are elaborate, capable of catering to a total of 520 guests. The property has five conference/banquet halls – Maple Room, Oak Room 1, Oak Room 2, Summit and Forum equipped with custom-made furniture for different seating needs and state-of-the-art conferencing facilities. Atrium Lounge, the well equipped business centre of the hotel, completes the set up necessary to cater to any need of the corporate or business traveller.

Food is yet another unique selling point of the hotel, which boasts of holding a food festival with different themes and options every day since the last one year at The Tangerine - the 24-hour multi-cuisine restaurant. If the combination of location, facilities and services tempts you to raise a toast to a comfortable and pleasant stay, just head for the bar, aptly named Spiritz.
