Full House For WTI 2004 In Mumbai

India received its first truly international travel and tourism event titled World Travel India (WTI), from February 5-8, organised by UK’s Kinex Log with Express Travel & Tourism, from the Business Publications Division (BPD) of the Indian Express Group (IEG) as the strategic partner. Set within Mumbai’s new age business district, the Bandra Kurla Complex, WTI was inaugurated by Jaidatta Kshirsagar, minister - tourism, government of Maharashtra.

The exhibition boasted of over 200 leading domestic and international travel providers, an international hosted buyer’s programme, a cutting edge conference and seminar programme, and the grand finale was the feBusiness Traveller Awards.

An entire gamut of exhibitors from the travel and tourism industry were represented including airlines, associations, business travel, car rental, coach and rail operators, conference/meetings, cruise operators, financial services, health spas, hotels, media, national and regional tourist boards, special interest holidays, technology, tour operators, etc.

The hub of all activity was a specially constructed fully air-conditioned luxury structure at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

WTI 2004 also put quality international buyers in touch with Indian sellers through a hosted buyer programme where nominated buyers were hosted to attend WTI and participate in a pre-arranged schedule of one to one meetings. This was the first time a major travel event included it for the Indian market.

WTI attracted visitors and exhibitors from around the globe. Although mainly a trade show, it was also open to the public and attended by high spending members of India’s 300 million middle-class. Visitors found a wealth of information on travel destinations and holidays from more than 200 domestic and international exhibitors.
