Air-India Launches Flights To Shanghai

Air-India has commenced flights to Shanghai, the business capital of China.

The flights, to be operated on Thursdays and Saturdays, will provide fast air connectivity between Mumbai/Delhi and Shanghai. Passengers travelling between India and Shanghai will be able to take a direct flight now instead of going through a South-East Asian country involving considerable transit time at the stopovers.

The commencement of services to Shanghai is part of Air-India's growth plan, which has seen doubling of capacity on the India-US sector in the past one year. Air India has dry leased 14 aircraft in the past two and half years for expanding its network.

A spokesman of Air-India said that while the flights to Shanghai are being launched initially on a twice weekly basis, the airline was confident that the frequency of services will be increased in the near future as traffic grows between India and Shanghai.
