A Goan Village Experience

Ashish K Tiwari explores the Park Hyatt Goa Resort And Spa

There’s an interesting story behind the branding of this international spa resort in Goa. The president of Hyatt International, when he came for a final look to the property before launch, was so touched with its design that he insisted on giving it the ‘Park Hyatt’ branding. The ‘Park’ brand is Hyatt International’s collection of boutique hotels offering the highest degree of personalised services to its guests.

Located on 45 acres of beachfront property overlooking the pristine Arossim beach, the resort is 15 minutes drive from Dambolin Airport and about 20-25 minutes from Madgaon station. The resort’s unique ‘informal’ ambience begins from the reception area itself. The personal resort host (here starts the personalised service part) escorts you to the room where check-in is done. In fact, the resort host is your one point contact for anything you wish to have, any information you need or anything you need to get organised.

The look and feel of the resort is of a typical Goan village with distinct guest accommodation neighbourhoods (251 rooms and suites) - Indo-Portuguese style Pousadas or villas. With lush greenery, landscaped gardens, glimmering waterways and lagoons you feel you are in a different world. Amongst the most striking features is the spacious, open-plan, spa style bathroom with spa amenities in the bath area, the plunge pool and the rain shower.

Standard features in the rooms include: walk-in closet, individually controlled air-conditioning and dimmer lights, two telephone lines, computer data ports in the room and in the veranda, multi-channel satellite TV, in-room safe and mini-bar.

The most interesting place to be when you are craving for eating options is the ‘Village Plaza’. It’s like the typical Goan market place with a collection of food and beverage outlets serving the choicest of Indian and international cuisines.

The restaurants here have indoor and outdoor seating areas and guests can ask for any food being served in the collections of food and beverage outlets there, without shifting venues. And if you are feeling lazy, ask room service to get your food and wait for a surprise!!! The food comes in ‘tiffin’ and ‘soups’ in thermos (a polished version of the ‘dabbawala’ service in Mumbai).

The Park Hyatt Goa Resort And Spa has become a venue for companies like Microsoft, Birla Sun Life to to hold their corporate and banqueting events. Conference facilities offered include: ballroom with built-in stage and spectacular lagoon view, state-of-the-art multi-media equipment, broadband connectivity and a team of convention services specialists to plan, arrange and organise and implement the corporate events. Gatherings from a minimum 16 people to an assembly of 370 people can be hosted here.
