Air Deccan Launches 20 Low Cost Flights
Air Deccan, the low cost no frills airline from Deccan
Aviation has launched 20 flights from Bangalore to neighbouring states of Tamil
Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. They are planning to have totally 70 flights by December
this year.
The company is acquiring nine ATRs in all by November.
They will operate regular flights to Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Belgaum,
Vijaywada, Mangalore, Hubli and Madurai.
Air Deccan has established a full-fledged call centre
to facilitate bookings. Bookings can be done via Internet as well. The company
was in discussions with the Kerala government to start operations to Kochi,
but received a setback when the airport authorities refused to bring down the
exorbitant rates for ground handling. Deccan Aviation, with a fleet of 10 aircrafts
including eight helicopters, already carries corporate CEOs and other profile
personalities. Deccan Aviation has also started services in Vaishnodevi, where
they provide heli-rides from Katra to the main temple. They are also working
towards a tie-up with Sri Lanka and Bhutan governments for heli services. Apart
from these they have regular heli-tourism packages all over the country.

IA Launches ‘Smart Voyager’ Schemes
Indian Airlines (IA) has launched its three-month long
Smart Voyager schemes with effect from October 1.
IAs Smart Voyager-12 scheme, launched in association
with Air India, would enable a passenger taking 12 flights to six metro cities
between October 1 and December 31, to get an assured free return economy ticket
to the US or to any other international destination operated by the international
carrier.
Competing with IA, Jet Airways has also revised its
rules for senior citizens discount tickets with effect from this October. Passengers
who have completed the age of 65 years can now avail of 50 per cent discount
on the normal basic fare with a minimum of two nights stay at the destination.
The tickets have to be purchased one week in advance
of the journey with a minimum of two nights stay at the destination for a round
trip journey.
