Tipping
In Restaurants
Dear
Sir,
Having
read the February 2002 issue of Express Business Traveller for the
first time, I think it is quite useful for those who are interested
in this subject. Let me share my views on tips in restaurants with
you.
How
much must you tip? In general, most people believe that in restaurants
the tip should be 10 per cent of the bill amount. But this yardstick
cannot be applied especially, if the amount of bill is too meagre
or too fat. The exact amount of tip in such cases depends on the
services and quality of food served.
Further,
in a lighter vein - let me say that whenever any amount is paid
to the officials of the income tax department for their good deeds
like issuing refunds or income tax clearance certificates or assessment
orders, the amount paid to them voluntarily is a tip for their efficient
services. But if the amount is demanded by the income tax officials
for any work to be done, then it is a bribe and considered illegal.
True, is it not?
Yours
faithfully,

Just a note to say that Australia is celebrating the Year of the
Outback this year. So if you happen to go Down Under, dont
forget to experience Australias unique version of the cowboy

Going
Places
Dear
Sir,
I have been an avid reader of your magazine right from its inception.
I firmly believe that conscious efforts have been made to improvise
on the content, style of writing and layout presentation, primarily,
to make the product internationally competitive. And this endeavour,
I must say is commendable and well appreciated.
